Neurobiology of trauma in Action-for your promotion
People who have experienced difficult situations or traumatic events in their lives can have significant changes in the neurobiology of their brain, disruptions in the parasympathetic nervous system and vagus nerve, and a host of body-based responses years after the event(s).
Therapeutic Spiral Model (TSM) is an innovative clinical psychodrama to treat PTSD safely and effectively with an internal role map. In this training participants will learn to use the Body Double (BD) intervention to work with the energetic and physical body/brain to repair the ‘rhythmic rupture’ it suffers due to traumatic events. Breathing to activate the parasympathetic and vagus nerve will be experienced. And, the brain-in-action, along with attachment structures, will be taught through demonstration and live supervised practice. These techniques and information can be used immediately in individual, couples and family therapy, as well as by educators and community organizers.
Gabriel Thibaut de Maisieres is a LMF. His life exposed him to various cultures, different languages and socio-economic geographical places. He discovered, late in life, that his life mission is helping people with their relationship to others and/or themselves. He discovered by his own development that using experiential methods such as TSM led him to more change than just talking. He received his MFT degree from JFK University in 2001, trained with Kate Hudgins and Mario Cossa and others for many years. He was certified as a TSM Trained leader in 2020.
Roni Alperin, LMFT, RDT/BCT is a psychotherapist and drama therapist in private practice in the Bay Area, CA. He is an Adjunct Professor at the CIIS Drama Therapy program. He is the founder and director of the San Francisco Playback Theatre Company, and a Therapeutic Spiral psychodrama certified trainer.. Roni leads Playback Theater training, performances and therapy groups with a focus on treating PTSD and personal and collective trauma.
